Two stories. Five bars. One dance floor that makes you forget what day it is.
If you have been waiting for a proper country dance hall to land somewhere north of Dallas you can officially stop refreshing your feed. Mavericks Dance Hall is now open at Grandscape in The Colony and it is already pulling crowds that rival anything on Lower Greenville or in the Stockyards. The Austin born brand has planted its flag in DFW and it brought the full package with it.
The venue sits at 5866 Grandscape Blvd in The Colony TX 75056 right inside the Grandscape entertainment district off Sam Rayburn Tollway. If you have been to Scheels or Andretti Indoor Karting you already know the area. Parking is one of the best parts about this location. Grandscape has a massive free parking structure and surface lots surrounding the complex so you are not circling blocks or paying twenty dollars to park three streets away. That alone separates it from most nightlife spots in Dallas proper.
What You Walk Into
Mavericks is a 14000 square foot two story country dance hall built for people who actually want to move. The ground floor is anchored by a massive dance floor surrounded by four full bars. Upstairs you get a balcony view of the action below plus another bar making five total spread across the building. Whether you are a two stepper or someone who just likes to watch from the rail with a cold drink in hand the layout gives you options.
The stage hosts live country bands and DJs Thursday through Saturday night. The patio is its own scene entirely with outdoor games and a dedicated DJ spinning sets on the weekends. It feels like they studied every dance hall in Texas and pulled the best parts into one spot. Neon signs glow against dark walls. The lighting shifts between purple and red depending on the set. The sound system fills the room without drowning out conversation at the bar.
Hours and What It Costs
Mavericks Dance Hall is open Thursday through Saturday from 7 pm to 2 am. This is a 21 and up venue so leave the kids at home. Cover charge runs around $10 at the door which is reasonable for a place this size with live entertainment every night they are open. Drinks lean toward standard bar pricing for the DFW area. Expect to pay somewhere in the $8 to $14 range for cocktails and around $6 to $8 for domestic beers. A few Google reviewers have mentioned the drink prices run a little higher than average but that tracks with the Grandscape location and the production quality inside.
The Grandscape Factor
What makes Mavericks especially interesting is where it landed. Grandscape is not your average strip center. It is a sprawling entertainment and retail district that already draws massive foot traffic from Scheels to Nebraska Furniture Mart to TopGolf. Dropping a country dance hall into that mix was a smart play. You can grab dinner at one of the surrounding restaurants and walk right over without moving your car. That kind of convenience matters when the alternative is driving 45 minutes to Deep Ellum and paying for parking on top of everything else.
The Colony has been quietly building itself into one of the more interesting pockets of nightlife in north DFW and Mavericks is the latest proof. For people in Frisco, Plano, Allen and McKinney this is the closest thing to a legit honky tonk without heading into Fort Worth.

Who This Spot Is For
If you grew up going to Billy Bob’s or you spent weekends at Cowboys Red River this is the modern version of that energy. Mavericks is not trying to be a dive bar. It is not trying to be a nightclub either. It sits right in between with enough polish to feel like a night out and enough sawdust spirit to keep it real. The crowd skews young professional to late twenties with a solid mix of couples and groups. Thursdays tend to be a little more relaxed while Fridays and Saturdays get packed after 10 pm.
Mavericks Dance Hall already has three locations in the Austin area including North Austin and Buda. The Colony marks their first expansion into the Dallas Fort Worth market and based on the early reception it will not be the last. You can find more information and upcoming events at thecolony.mavericksdancehall.com or call them at (469) 628 1120.
If you are anywhere in north Dallas and you have been looking for a reason to pull out the boots this is it. Mavericks brought the kind of energy that has been missing from this side of the metroplex and they did it without making you fight for a parking spot.
